The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities calls for submission of papers on accessibility

The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a group of people that make sure countries respect the rights of people with disabilities.
They want to know more about what being accessible means. This is why they have asked persons with disabilities and other organisations to explain what it means to them.

The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) calls for submissions of the practical and theoretical papers on implementation of the Article 9 on accessibility of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The papers should be submitted no later than 15 March 2012.

The CRPD is calling upon persons with disabilities, their organizations and other civil society actors, expert associations, educational and scientific institutions, national human rights institutions, State Parties and regional organizations to submit papers on subjects related to the implementation of the Article 9 of the Convention.
Article 9 is about accessibility and refers to how people with disabilities have the right to access all aspects of society on an equal basis with others including the physical environment, transportation, information and communications, and other facilities and services provided to the public.
