Universal Design Conference, Oslo (11-13 June 2012)

In June 2012, there will be a conference in Norway.

The conference will be about design for all.

Design for all means that all places and buildings
are build to be accessible for all.

A universal design conference is going to take place in Oslo, Norway, between 11 and 13 of June 2012. Entitled “Public space: Inspire, Challenge and Empower”, the conference will address issues related to universal design in planning, legislation, politics, education, buildings, outdoor areas, information and communications technologies (ICT) and public transport.

The strategy of universal design aims at dismantling physical and social barriers, by making public space accessible also for persons with disabilities.Based on this idea, a universal design conference is planned from 11th until 13th of June 2012 in Oslo, Norway. Organised by the Delta Centre, the conference will focus on solutions and various impacts of implementation relevant to people in public spaces; universal design in planning, legislation, politics, education, buildings, outdoor areas, information and communications technologies (ICT) and public transport.are the issues which are going to be addressed, while the latest international practical knowledge and R&D results on universal design will also be presented.

Under the main idea of the conference, each of its 3 days will have a main theme:

  • Planning for the Diversity of Tomorrow
  • Good Practice – the interplay of regulations, research and practice
  • Added Value – the benefits of mainstreaming universal design

The deadline for the abstract submission is on the 31st of October and no extension will be given, while the deadline for early free registration is on the 1st of February 2012.
