International Congress: A World of Potential, Halifax

In July 2012 there will be a conference in Canada.

The 14th World Congress of the International Association for the Scientific Study of Disabilities (IASSID) will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Canada) between 9 and 14 July 2012. The theme of the congress will be “A World of Potential” and it will include more than 200 concurrent sessions.

IASSID

The presenters will present their recent findings and the sessions include about a dozen plenary meetings where they will discuss advances in several fields such as behavioural or social sciences. The organisers (IASSID) expect that around 1500 delegates from around the world will participate in these meetings.

Among others, the topics will also include the following:

  • Ageing and Lifespan
  • Communication and inclusion
  • Education & Employment:
  • Self-advocacy and empowerment
  • Families and parenting
  • Physical Health Policy
  • Community Living and services
  • Quality of Life

Early registration is open until 15 February 2012.

The International Association for the Scientific Study of Disabilities (IASSID) is an international and interdisciplinary scientific non-governmental organisation which maintains official relations with the World Health Organisation.  Founded in 1964, IASSID promotes worldwide research and the exchange of information on intellectual disabilities.
